Maverick Staffing is hiring experienced and precise Prep Cooks for high-volume kitchens in the DFW area. We need individuals who understand that Mise en place is the key to a successful service. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, sauces, and proteins so the line cooks can execute dishes perfectly.

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and kitchen standards
  • Assist with food preparation, plating, and timely service execution
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations and equipment
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and management in fast-paced environments
  • Peeling, chopping, dicing, and mincing vegetables and fruits with speed and consistency according to chef specifications.
  • Trimming, portioning, and marinating meats, poultry, and seafood.
  • Preparing soups, stocks, salad dressings, and sauces from scratch following standard recipes.
  • Strictly following “First In, First Out” procedures. Labeling and dating all prepared items and storing them in walk-in coolers/freezers.
  • Safely operating commercial kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, blenders, and food processors.
  • Keeping the prep station sanitized at all times. Washing knives and cutting boards frequently to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Assisting the Executive Chef in checking freshness of ingredients and reporting shortages.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Prep Cook, Line Cook, or in a professional kitchen environment is required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must hold all valid state and local certifications required for the position.
  • Culinary Knowledge: Must understand basic cooking measurements (weight vs. volume) and have solid knife skills. Knowledge of basic food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Safety: Knowledge of health and safety rules.
  • Availability: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical: Ability to stand for 8+ hours and lift up to 50 lbs (sacks of onions, potatoes, stock pots).
  • Language: English required for reading recipes and labels.
